My Religion (The Abraham Song)~ STANDING "O" EXCLUSIVE by Shawnee Kilgore
This song came from the prompt (and a deadline) to write a two-chord song about a historical figure. Like many songs I've written for prompts it was a throwaway, and I was fine with that. The thing is, I played it for the group and they actually took it seriously. They actually liked it. I'm stubborn. Still a throwaway.
It stuck with my friend Daisy though, and she learned it and started playing it at her shows. People liked it. It sounded real pretty when she played it. Maybe, just maybe, this was ACTUALLY a song.....? She started having me up to sing it with her and I'd have to ask her my lines. People started requesting me to play it too, and I've finally given in to it being a part of who I am and what I do.

That awesome gal Daisy, Mike Hidalgo and I got together on a sunny afternoon in Austin and did this live recording in honor of Abe's birthday, February 12th. It's a Standing "O" exclusive.
