Lost Lover's Waltz is my absolute favorite of all the songs I've written and it's also the one I like performing in concert the most. It's definitely a 'one that got away' story, but it's not sad at all. All of us dream of golden days and silver nights, endless summer on the hills at Beltane, and Lost Lover's Waltz is exactly that. I especially love singing it for older women. Our culture tends to ignore older people, and we miss out on half of being alive. But every “little old lady” at the grocery store or on the bus was once young, and has in her memory a timeless summer, or week, or year, in which she and her chosen never slept, and wrote their story in footprints naked on summer grass and in misted breath warm before dawn.
