Tom Bennett is a folk blues one man band from Eagle Crest Ranch, a small family farm outside the little town of Villa Rica Georgia.Tom was given his first harmonica at nine years old. He learned to play the blues sitting in the shade of his Georgia farm house. At 19 years old Tom left the south and headed west on a quest for adventure and self discovery. He was a Mormon missionary for two years, he studied with polygamists and Tibetan Buddhist in Utah. During these years he hitchhiked 8,000 miles, road freight trains and Greyhound busses all over the USA. He fell in with a dark element and was arrested in 2006 for selling cocaine. Finding himself strung out and a bit lost Tom spent many years in efforts to repair the damage he did to himself and others, He became employed with the Boys and Girls Club and worked his way up to Program Director. He implemented a widespead urban gardening program and began assisting on the weekends in their effor and feeding the homeless. He began playing guitar at age 32 on April 7th of 2013. He quickly started busking and was invited on a tour to Georgia by Tony Holiday & The Velvetones ( a nationally touring blues band sponsored by Seydel Harmonicas Best in Utah in Blues Category 2016) This led to a life of touring. Tom has wrangled aligators off the Georgia coast, he plays about 300 shows a year. He has toured in 43 states. He is the founder of Sweet Salt Records ( a co-op of traveling Americana musicians) he has booked the Granary Row Concert Series in Salt Lake City Utah and is currently organizing a full USA tour and the Colorado City Music Festival to bring music to the community of Short Creek where their has been no music in over 30 years. ( Google FLDS, Colorado City for more info)
He has released two albums 1: The Man Who Shook The Trail Of The Devil’s Hounds 2: Live In Colorado.
He performs on dobro with a slide, harmonica, vocals and foot percussion… all at the same time. His sets are filled with engaging storytelling and soulful singing.
He loves to fully experience the small towns he tours to and looks forward to seeing you on the road!
Written from my mother when she had pnemonia in both lungs.
