As a solo artist - I played a little venue in South Florida called the Funky Buddha Lounge. As a full band, our first show was playing the Main Stage at the Crocodile in Downtown Seattle.

Honestly, I think it was "Don't bother doing music. Marry a rich man" - I've never been good at following unsolicited advice. This was a great one though. Really fueled the fire, you know?
