Ghosts of the American Road
BORN: in the back of an old Pontiac at a rest area on Route 66
RESIDES: Rochester, NY
PLAYING SINCE: 7,000 miles - 400,000 miles
The songs...their melodies came to life from beneath the hum of the road beneath us; the captivating scenery, weathered and worn old barns, vacant windows in decaying mills, the beauty of a barren wasteland and the soliloquy of the Great Lakes. To the mountains, to the prairies to the oceans white with foam. It is all there...the struggle, the achievement, the setback...always the journey, always the love, always the faith by which we endure. And, we are not alone. There are millions of stories, yet only a drop in the bucket have we encountered. Yet, with each new house concert, in each new town, we find ourselves, again and again, becoming spiritually connected, transcending ideals and rhetoric and finding harmony in our surroundings.
Authentic. With undeniable honesty, Kevin Higgins and Barbara Malteze offer cinematographic observations about life, love, faith and family. Described by fans as having “transformative powers”, their melodic poetry and rich vocals are woven over guitar and piano with an artistry which attracts listeners, and forms bonds of connectivity. Throughout their 400,000+ mile journey, this passionate duo have been touching hearts, sharing dreams, creating lasting friendships and celebrating life to its fullest. This is “AMERICAN MUSIC” where all styles of music come together at a distinctly original musical crossroads.
