WE’RE BEING DISRUPTIVE, WANT TO PLAY?
By John Dillon
Buckminster Fuller said, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
At Art of the Song, we’re working on a new model. It’s going to help make the model of the starving artist obsolete. And in the process, it’s going to give you better access to more music, more artists, and even more Art of the Song. And it all comes to you as you want it, when you want it, at the pace you want it.
You probably remember the days of visiting the corner record store, taking the time to read liner notes, and talking with real people about real music. That activity is virtually a thing of the past. But at Art of the Song, we’re retro that way. We go for attention to detail and taking the time to enjoy. Fans say we play whole songs and let our guests speak in full sentences.
But what if real life gets in the way? If you just don’t have the time to sit down and listen for a full hour? Enter, the Standing ‘O’ Project.
As a channel for Art of the Song, the Standing ‘O’ Project offers everything we do, on your time in a size you can use. You get the on-demand convenience of the internet. You get bite-sized segments and songs. You also get the personality of the local record store, the intimacy of a living room concert, and the sense of community that used to be a daily part of broadcast radio.
The Standing ‘O’ Project is a mutually supportive online community for musicians and fans. It’s a place for fans to be inspired by the music and the stories of those who create it. It’s a community of like-minded music lovers. And, it’s a new revenue stream for musicians to be supported by their music.
We call it the Standing ‘O’ Project because it’s a lot like a Standing Ovation… a mutual show of appreciation between Fan and Artist. The Fan shows support with a small monthly subscription fee, and the Artist shows appreciation by offering new music, stories, photos, videos and more. We show our appreciation by making the Art of the Song archive available and easily accessible.
And the real game changer? Artists are supported financially by receiving 50% of the subscription revenue.
By co-joining hundreds of artists and their respective fan bases with Art of the Song’s 150-station audience, we’re creating one large community of inspiration for fans and support for musicians.
